Brief Overview

The definition of the what is a bowl is the same for all units and all time periods in the UGR. See here for further details.

Since much of the ED II ceramics came from tombs the ceramic inventory we have already excavated might not reflect the major bowl types in use at the site during the ED II period. In the tombs there were a large number of small bowl types that have a pronounced carination mid body. Many were decorated with incised and combed geometric decorations. Bowls with a straight side above the carination could have the same type of decoration. Hemispheric bowls found in the tombs had a pointed base and often are decorated with the same decoration types. A type of large bowl had knob handles just below the rim, but there were few of these found. Also there were few straight sided or deep bowls.
